Happy Memorial Day! I am so happy that you guys are getting back to me about our videos!

Memorial Day brings many memories for lots of people. The first person I think about when I think about the military is my Dad, Nathaniel Gidderon. He was an army man and he LOVED PT (Physical Training)! When I went back to North Carolina for his funeral I was happy to see pictures of him, many of them, were of him doing PT. I look quite a bit like him so it was especially interesting for me to these pictures of him doing the “Side Straddle Hop.”

One of my first memories of my dad was seeing him in is Class B uniform in the 70’s. He had his garrison cap on and I could see the eagle on it. When he saw he me picked me up and swung me up over his head and I got caught on his hat. It was at that moment, when I saw the blood on my forehead that I felt like I had been scratched by the eagle. No matter what my mother, did I was set on joining the army.

Another man I think of, is Richard Coon. He is the father of one of our business partners and close friend, Jamie Holloway. I think he was in the navy and I had met him many years after his service, but he was a great story teller. He could make the bible come to life! I still have a few notes from him when he was teaching me about the bible. Every Memorial Day I think of him. We had a lot in common: he liked to listen to the radio, like I do and we would share ideas that we got from talk radio.

My friend, Bob Metke, was my mentor and Toastmasters buddy. He was from Alabama and he lived to be about 92 years old. He always told me, “You gotta just bloom where you’re planted! If things are not like you like to happen, then make ‘em happen!” When things are going the way I want, I hear him saying, “Karen, just bloom where you’re planted, Honey!”

Whoever you hold close to your heart, really appreciate them because those are the things that hold us together.

Today Karen is going to show us a few exercises we can do without equipment to get us moving: Cherry Pickers, Running in Place, Cat Cow Stretch.

Make sure to email me to tell how things are going!

Happy birthday to my sister-in-law, Sarah! Happy birthday Sarah!
