Greetings everyone!

I wanted to share a very good experience with you all today. Earlier this month, while I was toiling away on the Arc Trainer at my favorite gym, Forever Fit, I glanced up and noticed a banner which caught my attention. It was an advertisement for body contouring and ultrasonic cavitation. I had been entertaining the thought of checking it out for quite some time, and after talking to Karen G Clemenson, she encouraged me to check it out, because she knows Renee who is a licensed Esthetician. Renee is just a wonderful and lovely person and she is very talented at her chosen profession. I highly recommend her.

For 31 years I have battled a small mommy pouch and subcutaneous abdominal fat following two pregnancies and births of my daughters. No matter how much I dieted, or exercised, it would never completely go away.

After doing a little research online, I took the plunge and sent a text to Renee. Soon after, I was scheduled for my first consult and subsequent procedure on March 3. I was a little nervous, but excited to see some changes.

After our consult, I said let’s do this. Renee had prepared a very comfortable surface to lie on with heated stones under a thin mattress which is very relaxing. She then applied gel to the abdominal area and used a hand held ultrasonic device with emits waves of energy that targets the subcutaneous fat cells and destroys them. The ultrasonic waves do not come in contact with the organs or other surrounding soft tissues, only the fat cells are targeted.

This was a very relaxing experience. It feels like getting a warm and gentle massage. Afterwards, I felt a tingling sensation underneath my skin, followed by a bit of abdominal soreness which felt like I had completed a series of sit-ups.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a visual difference, and I could tell there was at least a quarter inch loss in circumference immediately afterwards.

To prepare for our session, it is important to drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine the morning of the procedure. I had consumed 32 ounces of water prior to coming in, and was advised to continue to drink at least 64 or more ounces of water throughout the day. This assists the liver to flush away the toxins and the fat that has been forced out of their cells. The liver, urinary, and metabolic systems all work in tandem to process and flush the fats out of the body.

The aftercare is the most important step of all. It is important to be willing to do the work it takes to make this experience successful.

Here are the recommendations as follows:

  1. Do at least 20 to 30 minutes of cardio to stimulate and flush out the fat, immediately afterwards and the next two days.
  2. Abstain from alcoholic beverages. The liver will prioritize metabolizing alcohol from your body first before taking care of the fats.
  3. Continue to drink at least 64 oz of water a day. Be careful not to overdo hydration, because there is such a thing as water intoxication, you don’t want to deplete yourself of trace minerals your body needs.
  4.  Refrain from eating white or refined carbs, as your body can and will covert it into sugar which, in turn, will be converted to fat stores when they are not being utilized for energy. Consumption of complex carbs are fine. I ate brown rice, lentils, etc. I have continued to stay on a very low fat diet regimen.

You will feel sleepier than normal after the first day, and this too is normal. I had a very restful and relaxing sleep that night.

You may notice shiny bowel movements, this is normal, as it is a result of the fat being flushed out. You will notice your abdominal fluctuations in size, this too, is normal.

Pros: This is effective and long lasting. You will see optimal results in five days with noticeable inches lost. It may take repeated sessions, as everyone is different. I did notice skin tightening in the small areas of where I had slight stretch marks from my pregnancies.

Cons: It is important to remember that this procedure only destroys the fat cells. It does not make them disappear.

A perfect a analogy is this: Take a gel capsule and squeeze out the contents. The contents are gone, but the empty capsule remains, in hopes of being filled up again. That being said, this requires a commitment to healthy eating and mindful consumption, and a regular exercise regimen.

I am planning on at least two more sessions, and will reevaluate the need for more at that time.

Addendum: After further research, I discovered that if you are diabetic type 2, this procedure is not recommended because the kidneys will be under more stress due to the recommended water intake.

With all things medical, it is prudent to consult with your physician before attempting this type of body contouring.
