Greetings everyone,

I hope this month brings you peace, joy, and love to you and your loved ones.

Today’s article is more targeted towards my female readers, but our menopause symptoms can affect our spouses, partners, and family indirectly, because many aspects of their lives are intimately connected to ours.

Menopause is the time in a woman’s life when her period stops. It usually occurs naturally, most often after age 45. Menopause happens because the woman’s ovaries stop producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone. A woman has reached menopause when she has not had a period for one year.

I am going to discuss some of the challenges I have experienced for the last nine years of my life. Along with the more common symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, brain fog, and mood swings, there is one symptom that is less common, and that is having a burning and dry mouth.

This symptom has plagued me since 2012, and is a main cause of my anxiety attacks. This, by far, is the most troublesome symptom I have experienced because this has pretty much dominated and defined my life for almost a decade, until just recently, because it is slowly abating and easing up, along with the hot flashes and night sweats. This has alone, has been a main factor that has limited my activities of daily living to an extent, because I always needed to pack a certain type of water where ever I went. This is not an option when considering travel to abroad. Unfortunately, I have had to cancel trips to Korea because of it.

Today, I went to a new medical provider and discussed the possibility of going on hormone therapy to help alleviate the symptoms. It was recommended that I start using a cream and I am looking forward to the next two weeks to ascertain if this helps because it is a mild estrogen replacement, because it has been a long nine years.

Please stay well my friends. Until next time, have a peaceful and blessed holiday season.
