Hi Everybody! It’s Karen from Wellness Works NW! How are you feeling today? Are you feeling better? I bet you are because you are getting better and better every day and I am so excited about that.

The Great Experiment: That is what I would call my beloved country. These 6 white dudes got together and they decided, “Hey! We can’t handle this any longer. We need our independence from Great Britain.”

BOOM!

What a statement. These 6 guys lost everything because they were fighting for a revolution. They wanted us to have our own independence. When you make major changes like that all kinds of things happen. You gotta have the guts enough to make a goal, stick with it and make it function and make it go…and there are gonna be some difficulties.

OK…now we’ve got you here. What are we going to do? That was America. That’s how we started and now almost 200 years later, we’re still babies in the scheme of things. Understand that. We’ve had a lot of great success. Now the media, often times, doesn’t focus on that success. They take the 10 worst things that are happening and we watch it over and over and over, then we all just end up overwhelmed. Riots break out. BLACK LIVES MATTER! White lives matter. NATIVE LIVES MATTER. LIVES MATTER!

In my opinion, what we have to do is learn to listen to each other. Understand that human capital is what we need. There’s nothing like humans. God made of all of us. We have different opinions, different things going on and I can have an opinion that says this and that. It says that I support cops because they are the only thing that stands between me and utter destruction right now. I can say BLACK LIVES MATTER and we absolutely have to have something better but we have to work together on that.

So the other evening, as I was driving by the Civic Circle here in beautiful Longview, I see people out there and they are holding signs up. Peaceful people. Not looting. Not hurting any businesses. Peaceful! And the signs are different. Some say: BLACK LIVES MATTER! Some say: White lives matter! Some signs say: LOVE EACH OTHER! And that is where I am. My true opinion is that we need to just grab each other up and give each other a big hug because, you know what, we are awesome! Together we are a lot better

When it comes to systematic racism, its been there a long time, but keep in mind, this is the experiment and we are still trying. I know we are trying because about 55 years ago we came into the whole civil rights movement. Their goal was fair housing and all kinds of stuff was happening and that was just 55 years ago. Dig it: Some people think that is really old but that is really young in the scheme of things.

So what I would say guys, is we gotta hold onto each other. Hold each other up and make sure we get to this goal because can do it. We are the great experiment. Some times I can just imagine being there with those 6 white guys, and I say that, not to be prejudice, but for effect because it was 6 white guys. They were there and they said, “Let’s do this.” They had the guts. They had the balls (pardon the expression) to do that…just like a lot of our cops are good cops and they have the guts to get out there and protect us. Thank God!

Yes. Bad things do happen. The negative is ever present, but together, we have to move in sync, together. When I looked on those people with the signs, nice and peaceful, I saw people getting know each other. Let’s walk together. Let me see your experience. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

I want to tell you one quick little story about my little (Irish) niece, several years ago, and you know my hair is very interesting and I was laying on the couch and she said: Can I touch your hair?

I said, “Sure!”

So she comes up and she touches my hair and says, “That’s really different!” She kept playing in it and she said, “Wow!” She was fascinated and I love that she still has that fascination about herself because she wants to learn and she wants people to tell her how things are different.

This is how we have to look at things, from a child’s point of view: This is different. You’re different. You eat this. You do that. Ok…

Let’s do it together. Let’s walk together. There’s nothing we can’t do together. I know we can do it! I know it!

We’ve got kids graduating (like my niece, next year). Let’s do it for them. Let’s set a great example for them and show that we do love each other. Human capital is the thing that is the most important thing in the world. Together we can do anything. We can go so much further when we hold hands and say: Let’s knock this out! Let’s go!

We’ve proven that. Look at this country! We’ve done a lot of great things and so my challenge to you is to find something great. Find something great. Find somebody who doesn’t look like you and say, “Hi! How you doing?” Find out some different things.

WE CAN DO THIS! I know we can do this, just like those 6 white guys said, many years ago when they said, “I think we can stand on our own Paul. What do you think?”

“I think we can. Let’s knock this out! Whoa!” And the party was on.

And now we are going to work on our triceps. You can work very easily just be leaning up on a table and slide down nice and easy. You can also also use a chair to balance while you stretch your hamstring on the back of your thigh. We are also going to do pushups to use your body as your own resistance. As you workout at home if you have any questions please shoot me an email!

Note: We recognize that the Declaration of Independence was actually written by a Committee of 5, including John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston…For some reason Karen was including Paul the Apostle in the group, but she has been corrected. 🙂
