Hey Everybody! This is Karen from Wellness Works NW. How are you? Are you feeling energetic or are you kind of chill.

Different Social Styles are my topic for today. Introverts are pretty chill. Extroverts are very excited…like me who makes sure I am the last person the elevator and then when the door closes I turn around and start talking to you. I am sure that is a bit too much for some of you. It takes all of us.

When you think about Social Wellness you have to become one with who you are. If you have to get up and give a speech, even if you are an introvert you can be extroverted for a while to get through the speech. Even if you are usually quiet. We can all do what we want to do regardless of whether you are an introvert or an extrovert.

I have always enjoyed talking to people. I always wanted to be Johnny Carson. Some of you are too young to know who he is. Johnny Carson was a talk show host and he was absolutely wonder. He could ask a question and you felt like you were the only person in the world. I have always tried to do that, I try to do that, I just enjoy people. Maybe you are different.

Maybe you have to go to this big Chamber of Commerce event and you don’t really want to go but you decide you are going to do it and be ok. So you go and you smile at a few people and ask a few questions, because that is what you do at a chamber event. For you extroverts the way you can help is to say hi to introverts. Always say hi to introverts. They will probably be really reserved but this helps pull them out of their shell. You must learn who you are and be who you are. Whether you prefer to observe and ask the right questions or you are an extrovert who likes to be in everyone’s face, be you and adjust where necessary.

It is good Social Wellness for you to understand who you are and learn where you are most comfortable. If you are an introvert you may enjoy being online more. Being social is very important. We have some restrictions right now during the pandemic but it is good to make connections and be who we are and be fantastic.

When I was growing up I went to Catholic School and the nuns were always telling my mother I was too spirited. That was their way of saying: Can she just stop screaming at people? You could hear me all over the playground yelling at people.

Did someone say exercise?

In my hand right now I have an resistance band, I like bands and have all kinds of resistance bands because resistance are good. Let’s try putting both your hands in the bands and lift them over your head and leaning over to the side. Hold in your stomach and stretch to the other side. You can also hold the band on your hands in front of your chest and pull them apart to work your chest. You can use these bands anywhere, even at work. While you are stretching your chest you can even add a squat. Make sure you are breathing.

Just a little bit of exercise is important. Remember you can still work on your social wellness my making sure you are making connections. Be comfortable in your own skin and make sure to follow social distancing and wear your mask.

Work on your own wellness. I am sending positive vibes and prayers. You got this!

Send me an email to tell me how you are doing.
