Hey Guys! It’s Karen with Wellness Works NW. Happy New Year! We are going to have fun in ’21! That is right! We are so ready. It is all about mindset and I am so pumped for this new year! How about you?

The holidays are over here so we are ready. Get ready, get set for 2021! I am here to give you a jumpstart. A lot of times people say they need to make some New Years Resolutions. If you are one of those people, I am down with that. Let’s write it down. If you are not one of those people, you need to just go. You just need to think positive, maybe get up earlier, or whatever it is you need. Just set it in your mind. Don’t have a list of 125 things because that is not good, and when you start to not do them, it is easy to forget the whole things. If you can just put a few things in your mind that you want to do, it can be done.

I am excited for the people who want health and fitness to be the #1 thing they want to add to their life this year. Figure out where you want to start. Should you start with the way you eat to bring change. Lets focus on that. We can start planning your meals, drinking more water, set an alarm to remind me to drink more water. Take your time and make the plan.

Its like when your car needs a jumpstart. You come in and you get your cables all set up the right way. Then you start the 1st vehicle up and then you get the 2nd vehicle running, but then you have to keep that car running. You can’t just stop. You have to keep it running.

So we are going to get started and you’re going to plan to move more. You have to decide how you are going to do that. Can you just get up and take a small walk? Maybe walk during the commercials when you are watching TV or maybe just move side to side. Take your growth, nice and easy. Maybe you are not ready for a 5K right now but soon you could be if that is what you want to do. I want you to clarify in your mind what you want to do and know that this year is about fun. 2020 is in the rear view mirror and 2021 is right in front of us.

When I was a kid, I loved cars so much! There was nothing that I loved more than get in someone’s car and pretend I was driving. You guys are in the driver’s seat right now. We are going to make this happen. I want to come along with you, as a matter of fact. You could run to our website at https://wellnessworksnw.com and look around and see what is there. We have all kinds of great articles on there about getting you healthy. There are so many ways to eat and all of them work for somebody, but not all of them will work for you. Let’s talk about that and make a plan. This is going to be a road trip for you to remember.

Now it is time to Move it! Move it! Move it!

A lot of you have these wonderful Stability Balls and they can be very economical. They can be found online or in your favorite store. It’s a great way for you to move. Just sitting there, you can be sitting there watching Little House on the Prairie, you can help your abs, your posture, your whole body. Try something different. You can grab some Hand Weights. They too are easy to find or you can use a book, milk carton or anything you can hold in your hands.

So we are going to do some Bicep Curls while we sit on the ball. Sit up straight. Hold the weights in your hand and bend your arms in front of you toward your body. Go slow. Nice and easy. Don’t hold tightly to the weight. You want your hand to be relaxed. Then do a few with your other arm.

Next we are going to do some Pecs Lifts. Sit up straight and hold your arms straight out in front of you with your palms facing each other. With your right arm, bend straight back, behind your ear. After you do a few of those, switch to your other arm. This is a good way to get those shoulders moving.

The last exercise we are going to do today is a really good exercise to reach your internal and external obliques. Let’s make those obliques look sleek with a few Oblique Twists. Sit up straight with your arms bent and holding your weights together in front of you. Then keeping the weights together turn your arms together as far over to your right as you can. You can feel this right on your side. Bring them to the center and then as far over to the left. Repeat that several times and you will feel it!
